Charee St. Julien is the creator of Àṣẹ Lux Charée, a Batana Oil-inspired hair care brand devoted to nourishing textured hair through intentional ingredients, cultural tradition, and restoration. Inspired by her personal hair journey and the experience of raising her daughter with curly textured hair, Charee transformed years of research, trial and error, and personal experience into a passion-driven mission centered around healthy hair growth, moisture retention, and holistic care for textured hair.
Originally from Louisiana and now based in New Jersey, Charee brings both lived experience and purpose into every product she creates. Living with albinism deepened her understanding of delicate hair care and the importance of using nourishing ingredients that truly support long-term hair health.
Her journey eventually led her beyond store shelves and product aisles and into communities across the Caribbean, Africa, and Central America, where ancestral hair care traditions have been preserved for generations. Charee travels to learn about time-honored ingredients, oils, and butters that have remained deeply rooted in culture and heritage rather than mass production. Through these experiences, she seeks to honor traditional knowledge and bring intentional, culturally inspired care to textured hair in its many forms.
After traveling to Honduras and learning more about the traditional use of Batana Oil, she became inspired to create a collection that celebrates the richness, beauty, and versatility of textured hair across every curl pattern, texture, and shade.
Through Àṣẹ Lux Charée, Charee hopes to create more than hair care. She hopes to create a sense of connection, confidence, softness, and pride for those embracing their natural beauty journey. 🌿✨
